Rules in error

2001-08-17 Thread webmaster

Hi folks,

Exchange is not my forte, so Stu said to drop you folks a line...

-Exchange 5.5 server and a W2K Pro user with Outlook 2000.
-User has his mailbox as well as an additional mailbox.

After creating a set of rules to move (or delete) incoming email to the additional
mailbox, the rules fail to run, unless you run them manually on said mailbox.

Also, for some reason or another he gets a popup error message "Rules in error" and
the offending rule is then turned off. We've tried deleting them, recreating them,
removing and re-adding that mailbox. But we still get these problems.

Any ideas for a late Friday afternoon?

That's the problem Don... all the rules we create end up being client side only.

I've got our tech guys on it now with your info...

Create the rules in the "additional" mailbox within its own profile.
When it is opened up as an additional mailbox, the rules should process
as advertised.

Boy, I could imagine the flames if I said PST *laugh* these

So do the emails go to a PST or do they try to go to another Exch
mailbox.
If they go to a PST, they will always be client side, since the PST is
unavailable to Exch server when Outlook is closed.
If they go to another Exch mailbox, you try to setup a rule to do a
forward or a redirect.

Re: Rules in error

2001-08-17 Thread webmaster

There are a number of rules (5). They are just there
to manage the flow of emails coming in. Basically looking
for key words in the sender's address or keywords in the
subject and/or body...

For example, I have a dozen rules for all our lists. Works
fine for me, but sadly not for this poor chap.

RE: General list discussion [WAS:RE: Exchange 5.5 server HACKED!]

2002-07-16 Thread Webmaster

A reminder:

Do's:
-Discuss Exchange Admin problems and/or workarounds, how to, what to, why to, type
 questions.
-Discuss third-party Exchange products, providing that the product is designed to aid
in
 Exchange Administration

In short: ON TOPIC, LOW NOISE, and FRIENDLY!

Don'ts:
-Discuss Windows '95/98/NT/2000 system admin problems. Use the Sunbelt
 ntsysadmin list for that.
-Post large articles to the list, web pages were made for that. Send a link with the
URL!
-Generate noise, voice your upset, flame, or make inflammatory remarks. Save that for
offline or better yet, do not do it at all.

Regards,

No more OOOs? (was TEST POST 2: Please ignore)

Well first test got me about 36 ooo's... second one didn't get me any.

What I've done is changed the default from: and to: to reflect the name
of this list so that ooo are now redirected to Lyris and it just eats
them up.

Feedback?
