NAV for Exchange blocks attachments. You
enter the extensions to block via registry entries. Not hard to do
but I wish they would have done it via the web interface. If you
search the Symantec website the details are there. In their knowledge base
use the keywords: attachment blocking. If I remember right.

In my case, I use Praetor. You need a 3rd
party app to do that.  Yes, the last one is for doubles, and it should be =
*.???.???, not ???.???.???.

RE: Banned list

2002-06-04 Thread Matthew Carpenter

Personally, I love Praetor. I tried Mail
Essentials too, but liked this better. Not sure about price. It goes by user
total.

Lotta users. Lotta moola

There is also Mail Marshal, Mail
Essentials, blah blah

NAV for Exchange blocks attachments. You enter
the extensions to block via registry entries. Not hard to do but I wish
they would have done it via the web interface. If you search the Symantec
website the details are there. In their knowledge base use the keywords:
attachment blocking. If I remember right.

RE: Banned list

2002-06-04 Thread Nickolaos Fotopoulos

Are
all of these potential executables?  I don't recognize allot of them.
Also has anyone run into any legitimate issues with the double extension
blocking?  I don't see the danger in the .c and .cpp
extensions.

A lot of them are object files for
programming languages. I see a TON of double extension emails.

In my case, I use
Praetor. You need a 3rd party app to do that.  Yes, the last
one is for doubles, and it should be = *.???.???, not ???.???.???.

RE: Banned list

2002-06-04 Thread Matthew Carpenter

For one thing, it is easy to configure
once you see how it works. Their tech support is AWESOME, and always willing to
work with you on issues on a one on one basis. Plus, they actually listen to
you when there is an issue that you think could help others. I have made
suggestions that they actually included in the last update. I thought it was
relatively inexpensive overall, too.

One of the things I don't like are
looking through the Archive for specific items. They use a randomly generated
naming system, which is really OK. You can use Explorer's "search
in text" option to find nitty grittys. Plus, you can see all header
information. I have learned a lot about spoofers and such by looking over these
items.

  In my case, I use
Praetor. You need a 3rd party app to do that.  Yes, the
last one is for doubles, and it should be = *.???.???, not ???.???.???.

NAV for Exchange blocks attachments. You enter
the extensions to block via registry entries. Not hard to do but I wish
they would have done it via the web interface. If you search the Symantec
website the details are there. In their knowledge base use the keywords:
attachment blocking. If I remember right.
