Subject: DS_E_INSUFFICIENT_ACCESS_RIGHTS

I have a friend who is having a problem with his Exchange 5.5, SP2
server.  The admin left and someone deleted his account instead of just
disabling it and/or changing the password.  Now only administrators can
see the GAL.  I think the problem is that the "search" permission is
set, but when he goes into the administrator program to change it, he
gets this error:

You do not have the permissions required to complete this operation.
DS_E_INSUFFICIENT_ACCESS_RIGHTS

He's logged on as the Exchange service account admin and everything else
is working except access to the GAL - can't see it & can't resolve
names.

Any ideas on how to fix this?  I've been looking on Google and MS and
haven't really come up with anything.  Also, I don't know if this makes
any difference, but the Exchange server is also a BDC.

TIA, MJ
