Well, the series is funny in a macabre sort of way:
http://blog.wordtothewise.com/2010/12/gfi-sorbs-considered-harmful/

If you ever find your mail being blocked by someone because they are using
the SORBS blacklist I think this is the thing to send them first.

2010-12-17 Thread Jason Gurtz
I think they will be forced to respond soon, but thanks for trying. If
they don't make some sort of press release it is sure to start having a
negative effect on other areas of the GFI business.

Oh wait, isn't our gracious mailinglist host a member of GFI now? Maybe
they have a vested interest in starting a C-Level discussion on the topic
of fixing that other division? :)

Re: FridayFunny

2010-12-17 Thread Micheal Espinola Jr
I think the biggest failure regarding it is that is was considered such a
mainstay that it has been improperly included as a default option in many
products over many years - that many admins have just turned on without
realizing the consequences of their actions.

It is indeed poorly maintained, but unless you are particularly knowledged
in these kinds of issues, its something that may not be easily recognized or
understood on a level that would prompt swift action. So in the meanwhile,
you have days, weeks, and even months of user/network/company-wide
frustration ultimately trying to convince some other admin that its *their*
fault for using SORBS in a blocking instead of weighted mode.
