Mangled attachments

I have certain users that are receiving Word document attachments as the
file WINMAIL.DAT. This file seems to be the Word formatting info with
'IPM.Microsoft Mail.note' imbedded at the top of the document and references
to our Exchange server at the end. Is this something to do with our MS Mail
Connector?
