RE: Antigen vs. Nortons

2001-11-30 Thread Toni, Randy

I've dealt with MAPI and AVAPI - but what is the SE API? Is this something
that only NAV uses?

I use NAV and it does a decent job considering it's MAPI / AVAPI based,
but it does lack attachment filtering and other features that Antigen
includes. Plus, I've heard that it's use of the SE API makes it less
likely to let messages slip through during times of peak traffic.

Norton
as gotten better so more like a Chevy.
With
Norton you are completely at their disposal for updateswith Antigen
you can use a variety of companies and you can even create your own virus
filtering system. Because Norton is sometimes overwhelmed for updates
organizations have felt theneed toshut down their exchange servers.

If you
are very low on cash and in a low emailorganization then Norton is
OK.

Which
is IMHO a great solution.
I use
Trend everywhere because I bought the neatsuite, but would happily use Norton on
the desktops, but never on my Exch box.

RE: Antigen vs. Nortons

2001-11-28 Thread John Weber

NAV
MSE does attachment filtering just fine.
And
some other folks indicated that they would never use a file scanner on the
Exchange, which I would agree with, however NAV MSE is MAPI/VAPI and works well
with 5.5 and 2k.

Sure
wish I could force a conversion to Trend though...I think that it is easier to
manage.
