Title: Blackberry CDO.dll hotfix

Jim,
You
are not going to install it into the Exchange.Blackberry server should be
different box with Exchange Administrator software. This is not Exchange
server.
This
fix should be appliedto Blackberry box, notto Exchange
server.
Blackberrybox will use just one mailbox for
sending messages to wireless network.

Getting ready to install the blackberry enterprise server on
one of my machines and in reading the docs I had a quick question. They
mention that we need to update the CDO.dll according to Q289606. I have
downloaded the file but I want to be sure if it goes on the exchange server or
  the blackberry server?
If on exchange has anyone had a problem with it? I hate
installing into exchange. Gives me a cold sweat just to think about
  it.
  Thanks

We
have it on it's own box and it's not very robust; i.e. we have to re-boot every
two weeks or so because it craps out.

Trying
to shut down the service hangs and you have to re-boot anyways. RIM needs better
software that doesn't crash so often.

Did
you Service Pack that bad boy

http://www.blackberry.net/support/downloads/index.shtml

Service
Pack 1 Includes
integrated installer for BlackBerry Enterprise Server Management software.
BlackBerry Enterprise Server Management allows you to administrate BlackBerry
Enterprise Server(s) in a native Microsoft Exchange 2000 or mixed (Microsoft
Exchange 2000 and Microsoft Exchange 5.5) environment. The BlackBerry Enterprise
Server for Microsoft Exchange (version 2.0 or 2.1) must be installed prior to
installing the BlackBerry Enterprise Server Management software.

Note:MSDE, SQL 7.0, or SQL 2000 must be installed if you
want to host the BlackBerry Enterprise Server Management database on the
BlackBerry Enterprise Server. If you do not have a copy of SQL 7.0 or SQL 2000
you can obtain a copy of MSDE from Research In Motion. Click here to
obtain the necessary files to install MSDE.

It's
running all by itself on a dual processor P II 300 with 1 GB RAM. The annoying
part isn't having to reboot, it's having someone call saying they aren't getting
messages. (Like the CEO)

  good
to know - exact opposite of what I heard from a buddy running a law firm -
server isn't really doing that much so a weekly reboot doesn't scare me to
much - I get to beta it for our site then roll it out if it works. Will
  add users v-e-r-y gradually.
