RE: From another list I read: Trend Issue

2008-02-18 Thread Raymond Brighenti

I'd have to agree here, we've used them for years and they created bout
4 hotfixes for latest release of IMSS when it was released for us
because of a simply unbelievable bug. (They had a option to hook into
LDAP to check if an email address existed but only checked the Primary
SMTP and no others!)

Oh, and when they release the previous version of Scanmail for Exchange
there was a default setting for maximum size of attachments to check
(about 5mb), what they didn't mention is that it would delete any
attachments over that criteria also in the exchange store!

We've moved off using them for our servers but Officescan isn't too bad,
but I still put them up there with MS when you need to install/upgrade
their product...wait until SP1!!

Just a quick FYI Trend sent out a bad DAT version 4.995 around 10AM EST
today (2/12/08). If you are running Trend and have an issue you need to
roll back to 4.993. Problems experienced include extremely high disk I/O
load and network problems.

We called Trend, they admitted an engineer mis-coded the definition file

It can happen to any vendor I am sure, but Trend's attitude about it is
