Are these replies? Is the mailbox actually DISABLED? Have you simply deleted the X.400 and SMTP addresses? Effectively, the DN is still enabled. Members of DLs are stored as DNs. So, if you send to a DL it will fan-out into a set of DNs. Redirect the mailbox to a dead letter box. Here is what I do to disable a mailbox: 1) Remove NT account and any other accounts on permissions tab 2) Remove all SMTP addresses 3) Remove mailbox from all DL's 4) Hide from address book 5) Set delivery restrictions on mailbox to only allow an admin mailbox to send to it. With alot of companies this isn't acceptable. I for one have to keep the account around until I do the month end backup. Just in case for some reason they need to access the former employees mailbox after they are gone it is right there. Well automate it. It's easy enough to do a script that goes round and deletes mailboxes that haven't been touched for (say) three months. We mark each one with Deleted Mailbox in CA10 and our script searches for this. Here is what I do to disable a mailbox: 1) Remove NT account and any other accounts on permissions tab 2) Remove all SMTP addresses 3) Remove mailbox from all DL's 4) Hide from address book 5) Set delivery restrictions on mailbox to only allow an admin mailbox to send to it. Here's a weird one We have a policy here that when a user leaves, the mailbox is hidden and all mail addresses deleted for 30 days before the box itself is deleted. I've just had a call from one user, who has delegate access to a users mailbox. The user left at the beginning of December, and all mail addresses were deleted around the 10th. This user is reporting that the mailbox is still receiving mail - a clear month after all email addresses were deleted! Can anyone give any input as to how an account with no associated addresses can still receive mail?
