Memory leaks? Are you sure? You do know Exchange using all available
memory if it needs it, right? Sure beats wasting it.

What is the full text of these errors?

Or just reinstall. Not remove. Rename the metabase.bin file and
reinstall IIS. When that is successful, you reapply the latest
Windows2000 service pack. When that is successful, you use the
reinstall option and reinstall Exchange2000. When that is successful
you reapply the latest Exchange 2000 service pack. A different path
than is outlined in Q304166 and Q290290 can result in restoring from
backup.

Could be. Like improper shutdown procedure or A/V scanning of the
metabase.bin file. How often do you reboot? The answer shoud probably
be something like... Only for service packs.

Subject: IIS Metabase Issues

I rebooted our MS Exchange 2000 server too regain memory due to the
memory leaks. Upon restart the MS Exchange and IIS and SMTP and WEB
services would not start. I receive event errors 7001 and when trying
to manually start these services we get general messages and access
denied. This never occurred before upon a reboot and we haven't changed
anything. MS states that the Metabase is corrupted an referred the Q
article of Q304166. The first step is to remove and reinstall the
Internet Information Service. This was attempted however the WWW service
which was selected did not install. I reapplied SP2 and tried again. I
am wondering if there is another underlying issue that is being
overlooked. Please advise
