RE: Mobile Device Management basics
We've been looking into MDM for a while now. What we've found: Boxtone - has a partnership with Motorola, and uses Motorola's 3LM product for managing/policies for Motorola devices. Doesn't work nearly as well with Samsung devices. Also, a bulky, kludgy install with multiple servers, and no central console (supposed to be coming by end-of-year) AirWatch - has a partnership with Samsung, using their SAFE technology. Supposed to be integrating 3LM within the next couple of months. One server, one console. Athena - Showed promise, as it fully integrates into SCCM, BUT, they were recently purchased by Symantec, which means I don't want to touch them with a 20-foot pole. We also looked at Good and Zenprise, but really weren't impressed with the functionality and capabilities.
