You can always say the server is broke, and to fix it, you need about
120 hours OT to fix OOF's, and therefore re-enable them. Then you make

some cash for the headache! grin

The joy of defending disallowing O O F replies has fallen to
 me at last.

 Apart from

 1) Mail Loops
 2) Annoying the thousands of people on mailing lists you are
 subscribed
 to
(yes I know you can subscribe from PF's)
 3) Can only be turned on/off for whole org
 4) Not all e-mail systems will necesarily get the O O F reply
 (not sure
 this
 is true these days?)
 5) Staff issues - not turning on/off appropriately, not
 updating text of
 message
 6) Not Best Practice as customer may never see it, and it
 place the onus
 of
 communication on the customer

Shame auotmatic replis to the internet is a different control as then
this would not be an issue!

Can anyone think of any other ammo - the archives contain nothing much

as we obviously haven't discussed this in the last month - shock
 horror!

  this
  is true these days?)
  5) Staff issues - not turning on/off appropriately, not
  updating text of
  message
  6) Not Best Practice as customer may never see it, and it
  place the onus
  of
  communication on the customer

Shame auotmatic replis to the internet is a different control as then
  this
  would not be an issue!

Can anyone think of any other ammo - the archives contain nothing much
  as we
obviously haven't discussed this in the last month - shock horror!

It's short for 'you get to keep your job for another month, now stop
lollygagging and get back to work'

You can always say the server is broke, and to fix it,
 you need about
120 hours OT to fix OOF's, and therefore re-enable them.
 Then you make
   some cash for the headache!

The joy of defending disallowing O O F replies has fallen to
   me at last.

   Apart from

   1) Mail Loops
   2) Annoying the thousands of people on mailing lists you are
   subscribed
   to
(yes I know you can subscribe from PF's)
   3) Can only be turned on/off for whole org
   4) Not all e-mail systems will necesarily get the O O F reply
   (not sure
   this
   is true these days?)
   5) Staff issues - not turning on/off appropriately, not
   updating text of
   message
   6) Not Best Practice as customer may never see it, and it
   place the onus
   of
   communication on the customer
