This is outside my area of expertise but could you not edit the mail form
and make the subject a mandatory field.

I don't think so. That would mean
that it would start prompting when you opened dialog for a new email message
wouldn't it?

reading this post, I laughed for a second, thought about it for a few minutes 
and searched the net for it, but couldn't find anything.I hadn't 
realized until today that this is annoying, going through your mailseeing 
10 messages from someone and having to click through eachmessage looking 
forthe right one! But regardless, I don't have a clue even if this 
can be done in a third party tool. Anyone else feel like an early/late 
night discussion?

I am on Outlook Express at the moment and tried to 
send a message without a Subject and I received a prompt notifying me that the 
message had no subject and did I want to send it anyway. I believe that is the 
default behaviour for Outlook 98 and 2000

this a thing in word too? When using word as the editor? If you have a content 
filter like mail essentials or mail security Ihtink you need, you could bounce 
it back as a blank subject is filtered :)
