Provided that, at least XAdmin is installed on the backup box. It does not do BLB's, but if you read the Ed C. Never Restore Method, you won't have to restore individual mailboxes. Does anyone use the native "NTBACKUP" utility on their EX 5.5 installations to backup their Exchange IS's online? Recently Microsoft recommended we use the native NTBACKUP utility to do the page layer online backups. Just looking for input from anyone on this list currently doing this, rather than going to a 3rd party application for backups. Also, do any of you know if individual mailboxes can be restored when using NTBACKUP as the backup solution? I'm not sure on this aspect, but I would suspect not, I don't think NTBACKUP does brick layer backups. Title: Message We use NTBACKUP for online backup of the DS and IS. Didn't experience anyproblems with that yet (knock on wood). Brick-level backups are not possiblewith NTBACKUP. If you have a relativelysmall sized Exchangeserver and no excessive backup needs, then NTBACKUP will do just fine. -Dajo -Oorspronkelijk bericht-Van: Ratini Heidi - IL [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]Verzonden: dinsdag 2 oktober 2001 16:13Aan: MS-Exchange Admin IssuesOnderwerp: Using native NTBACKUP utility to backup Exchange 5.5 server OK I'm doing this correctly this time. Title: Message There is no reason NOT to use NT back up in a small or medium sized org. It works great. You need to read the MS Exchange 5.5 Disaster Recovery white paper so that you are familiar with doing a Mailbox recovery and a Server recovery from an Online Backup. -Original Message-From: STEVE BROOK [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]Sent: Tuesday, October 02, 2001 10:22 AMTo: MS-Exchange Admin IssuesSubject: RE: Using native NTBACKUP utility to backup Exchange 5.5 server Individual Mailboxes = definitely no -Original Message-From: Ratini Heidi - IL [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]Sent: 02 October 2001 15:13To: MS-Exchange Admin IssuesSubject: Using native NTBACKUP utility to backup Exchange 5.5 server OK I'm doing this correctly this time.
