Has it been a month already? Deleted Item Retention. Beyond that, a reasonable need would warrant the time to restore to a recovery server. RE: Backup Exchange using W2K backup
Title: Message You still need to be logged in as the service account permissions on the box. What account did you install e2k with? administrator? or did you use a service account? I believe this is the acct that needs to run the ntbackup. The below is also correct you need to select the exchange server. Not the exchsrvr dir or M drive. If doing it from a cmd line I think its ntbackup backup /is /ds or something similar. -Original Message-From: Benjamin Winzenz [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Friday, November 09, 2001 9:32 AMTo: MS-Exchange Admin IssuesSubject: RE: Backup Exchange using W2K backup You arent doing something right. Please specify EXACTLY how you are doing the backup. Are you trying to back up the M Drive? When you back up Exchange using NTBackup, you go down and select the Microsoft Exchange Server , then drill down and select the Information Store. Thats the only way you want to back up Exchange using NTBackup. It will only backup the mailboxes that belong to the logged in account. I also need to backup the store but of course it reports "file open". How do I "close the store" so that I can back it up? We will eventually be getting Veritas BackupExec, but until then I need to get the store and mailboxes backed up.
