co-existence of Exchange 2007 and Exchange 2010 with Forefront TMG

2011-01-13 Thread Stuart Brainerd
Can anyone in this group shed some light on how seamlessly Forefront TMG or
ISA Server 2006 can handle client access (OWA, Outlook Anywhere and
ActiveSync) when you have both Exchange 2007 and Exchange 2010 CAS?

I am looking for some guidance on the best migration strategy in this
scenario.

Yeah, when you start talking “seamlessly” – that’s a trick question.

Generally speaking, you transition the old environment to new certificates that
support both the old namespaces and a “legacy” namespace and the new
environment has certificates that support the traditional namespace.

From a ISA/TMG/UAG perspective, you create a new listener for the old
environment using the legacy namespace. Once you’ve tested, you then switch the
original listener to point to the new servers. If you’ve configured your
Exchange servers properly, CAS will automatically redirect (or proxy in certain
situations) to the legacy servers.
