Re: [exim] What's the diffference between deliver_queue_load_max and queue_run_max?
Thanks Chris, the link explains clear and easy to understand. I think the total number of exim processes related to the CPU cores or memory size? What's suggested parameter values? Or should I test and adjust and work it for my machine(24cores /proc/cpuinfo, 64G mem)? Exim load and load limiting is complicated because Exim can deliver email both from queue runners *and* immediately when the email is submitted. So you can have some number of queue runners (up to queue_run_max) and also some number of immediate delivery processes. Years ago I tried to write down everything I had worked out about Exim load limiting. I think that nothing substantial has changed since 2008 when I did this and the following is still relevant if people want lots of detail: http://utcc.utoronto.ca/~cks/space/blog/sysadmin/EximLoadLimiting (If things have changed I'd love to hear about it.) - cks -- ## List details at https://lists.exim.org/mailman/listinfo/exim-users ## Exim details at http://www.exim.org/ ## Please use the Wiki with this list - http://wiki.exim.org/ -- ## List details at https://lists.exim.org/mailman/listinfo/exim-users ## Exim details at http://www.exim.org/ ## Please use the Wiki with this list - http://wiki.exim.org/

[exim] Forwarded emails x-header
Hi All, We are facing a situation wherein we are forwarding mails through a mail relay server. We have authentication set up for regular senders but for forwarded mails there is no authentication. On the relay servers, we want to track the senders using a specific x-header. We have figured out how to add x-header for authenticated users. However, for the forwarded mails, we are unable to find an optimum solution. Is there any way to insert an x-header based on the mailbox/username of the forwarding (source) email address? Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance. -- Regards, Sridhar Kakkillaya -- ## List details at https://lists.exim.org/mailman/listinfo/exim-users ## Exim details at http://www.exim.org/ ## Please use the Wiki with this list - http://wiki.exim.org/

[exim] Optimize sending in exim
Hello, Working with sending e-mail marketing and I'm using cpanel / whm with exim in its latest version. Need to optimize the shipping of exim, and to receive e-mail the same now send direct to the recipient, and that was not generating the send queue. I have noticed that the server is sending queue accumulating and analyzing the logs shipping seems that ISPs are blocking recipients immediate receipt, claiming the high flow of sending e-mail, noting that 100 IPS rotacioando have every referral, this set RDNS, SPF and DKIM, On my dedicated server, I made following setting in exim.conf, see: # cPanel Exim 4 Config QUEUE = 3m deliver_queue_load_max = 100 disable_ipv6 = true ignore_bounce_errors_after = 2h queue_only_load = 100 queue_run_max = 200 recipients_max = 70 remote_max_parallel = 200 smtp_accept_queue_per_connection = 5000 timeout_frozen_after = 2h -- ## List details at https://lists.exim.org/mailman/listinfo/exim-users ## Exim details at http://www.exim.org/ ## Please use the Wiki with this list - http://wiki.exim.org/

Hi, Shahid Ashraf shahidashra...@gmail.com (Di 20 Aug 2013 07:19:11 CEST): Hi Every One, I'm using Exim 4 with my Centos 6.4, I have 10 static IP addresses on my Linux box , I need to IP rotation in exim after 10 emails. Youre talking about outbound emails? Do you mean every 10 connections you want to use an other source address. Or do you mean, on average the outgoing messages should be equally distributed over these 10 source addresses? Maybe you can use SNAT iptables rules. Exim has some feature to pin the outgoing source address to some value, but you need some way to count the outgoing connections. As you may have several delivery processes it's probably not as easy as setting up SNAT. -- HS signature.asc Description: Digital signature -- ## List details at https://lists.exim.org/mailman/listinfo/exim-users ## Exim details at http://www.exim.org/ ## Please use the Wiki with this list - http://wiki.exim.org/

Re: [exim] IP Rotation
| Yes I'm talking about outgoing mails. I have 10 IP addresses on my | Linux box. I want send First 10 emails from IP address 1 then next 10 | from 2nd and so on. This is an open message to everyone on the Exim mailing list, because I unwisely can't hold my tongue any more. I know that you like solving technical problems involving Exim (I do too, it's neat). But maybe you want to take a step back here to ask yourself an important question: Why are you spending your own time, gratis, to help someone (apparently) avoid or bypass IP address ratelimits on their outgoing email? There are very few legitimate reasons to want to spread one's email sending out among multiple IP addresses more or less at random and the original request did not explain *why* they wanted to do such an odd thing. Further, you (as a postmaster) would almost certainly not like it if a sender tried this trick (and I call it a trick deliberately) on you. I am not saying that you should not answer the sender's question or anything like that. I am just suggesting that perhaps you might not want to answer it reflexively, without thinking about why you are helping them out (and if you really want to enable this). I apologize if this is considered annoying or (highly) off topic for the mailing list and will shut up now. This is very much not intended as an incitement to a mailing list argument about this; as far as I'm concerned everyone can make up their own minds in private and there is no need to justify your decision to me (or anyone else). - cks -- ## List details at https://lists.exim.org/mailman/listinfo/exim-users ## Exim details at http://www.exim.org/ ## Please use the Wiki with this list - http://wiki.exim.org/

Rotating IPs within Exim is possible, but a direct answer to his original question isn't that easy to find - for free anyway:) Source address rotation or randomization can be easily done on Linux with iptables (by SNAT), as was already noted by Heiko Schlittermann. I use such approach to make load balancing for several ISP channels. However, address rotation bring up other problems, for example, with greylisting on recipient's side. Their solution is much more complex then the initial problem of address rotation. It seems pointless to continue discussion in this way until topic starter explains what is his problem and why he want to solve it via source address rotation. -- Eugene Berdnikov -- ## List details at https://lists.exim.org/mailman/listinfo/exim-users ## Exim details at http://www.exim.org/ ## Please use the Wiki with this list - http://wiki.exim.org/
