Re: [expert] Radeon 7200

2002-11-26 Thread Benjamin Michotte
I have a radeon 7000 so I guess it's really similar.

First, take a look at http://gatos.sf.net and install ati.2 xfree modules
and at http://dri.sf.net for the kernel modules then try with the attached
XF86Config (but don't forget to change your keyboard map and mouse
device).

With this config, I have really cool results with some 3D games like quake3
and return to castle wolfenstein with 30fps in 1024*768 / 32 bits with all
settings put as high ;) (on a pentium 2 - 400)

Does anyone here have any experience to

Does it get detected during the install?
I'm not worried about 3D or anything fancy.

 Bill

[expert] konqueror ogg vorbis

2002-11-15 Thread Benjamin Michotte
hello,

when I try to use kio_cdaudio (think it's the name) to rip audio cd
directly in ogg vorbis, quality is something like 112kb/s but I want at
least 192kb/s. I tried to configure it whit kcontrol (File manager -
Audio CDs - Ogg Vorbis Settings) but it doesn't change anything.

How could I change this quality ?

[expert] anonymous cvs

2002-09-07 Thread Benjamin Michotte

hello there,

I have setting up a cvs server on my box for my school projects and
personnal projects.
One of these projects is a OpenSource one and I want to add a anonymous
anoncvs for people.

So in my config, I have a readers file with anoncvs on it and a passwd
file with all the users password.

Some of the users can checkout some module (modules foo, bar and plop)
but anoncvs can not checkout foo neiter bar. How can I do that ?

I didn't find anything in cvs doc, faq or google about it.

2002-09-06 Thread Benjamin Michotte

Hi all,

here's my problem: I just bought un domain name but I have an adsl
connection with a dinamic ip. I use dyndns service for a long time to
connect on my box.

I can use a public dns (from a company I know) to add my domain. Is it
possible to configure the dns (bind 8) with my dyndns name with
something like

foo.org IN foo.dyndns.org ?

 hi,
am trying to get running Mesa with glut and a ATI Rage Pro 128 graphiccard
but have no experience with all that stuff. So I'm hoping that anyone is
there, who can give me a step-by-step way, what I have to do.
first, you have to recompile your kernel with the good options : in the
menu of the kernel configuration, go in Character devices and choose
/dev/agpart (AGP Support)
your chipset (usually it's intel 440LX/BX/ for pc with intel cpu or
via chipset for amd)
choose Direct Rendering Manager
and finally ATI Rage 128 (as a module)

recompile and boot your new kernel. (don't forget to configure the rest
;p)

your XF86Config must look like mine (in attachment)

you can now start X .

Look at /var/log/XFree86.0.log
if you see
(EE) R128(0): [dri] R128DRIScreenInit failed because of a version
mismatch.
[dri] r128.o kernel module version is 2.1.6 but version 2.2 or greater
is needed
.
[dri] Disabling the DRI.
(EE) R128(0): [drm] failed to remove DRM signal handler
(II) R128(0): [drm] removed 1 reserved context for kernel

you have to go to http://drm.sourceforge.net and download the last
modules, compile them and replace your existent r128.o by the new. Then,
it must works.

Or another question would be : are there some docs in the web
available,
where I can get all the needed infos for newbies.
Try http://drm.sf.net and http://dri.sf.net (take a look at the gatos
project

With drm configured correctly, I can play Quake3 in 1024*768 / 32 bits
color at ± 75fps on a p2-350 ;)

 Hope anyone can help
Hope this help.

Maybe but NVidia drivers aren't gpl. So it's a choice of you.
