RE: [expert] HELP!! Opening firewall ports to allow conter strike online gaming...

2003-09-15 Thread Brandon Vanderberg
The default is 27015 but some servers use different ports.
In CS, look in the menu, and go to server info.
So if you allow your local net to go out on that dst port,
you should be good to go. Works here.

Nope. master.cf has the lines I wrote about.

RE: [expert] reassigning ports

2003-08-30 Thread Brandon Vanderberg
I did this with an old ISP that blocked port 25.
In my case, I had my dynamic dns provider store and
forward to my server on an alternate port. I used
1054, but use whatever you'd like.

modify /etc/services
add a new service (say smtp2) with port 1054.
leave smtp at 25

modify /etc/postfix./master.cf
change the line that reads

"smtp inet n - n - - smtpd"
to
"smtp2 inet n - n - - smtpd"

Do a postfix reload and you should be good to go.
No changes are needed to ensure local users get their mail.

I like changeip. www.changeip.com Don't know much about the features
with other providers, but changeip offers the following;
Free transfers,
dynamic DNS Sets,
port redirection, (nice for when isps block 25 or 80)
backup smtp server,
pop3 servers,
web mail, send and read email from your own account from anywhere
no ads,
great support,
and really good pricing.

Well, your were right :), the kernel-headers version is 2.4.18-41mdk and the
other packages are 2.4.19-16, but that's what's on the Mandrake CDs, is the
'kernel-headers' rpm the wrong version?

SPT = Source Port , DPT = Destination Port

This is completely normal. Without going into too much detail, When you send
packets to a web server, you'll send them with a DST port of 80 and a SRC
port of some high port (2736 in this case).

When the server replies to each of your packets, it sends them with a DST
port of 2736 (in this case).

So, the web server at mandrake isn't talking to you on port 80. It's talking
to you on port 2736. (It's answering your requests.)

*On a side note, each TCP session (and for a single web page there may be
several) you'll likely see a different DST port.
