RE: [expert] Re: Digest for list expert

2000-09-11 Thread Chris Burkhart

I have the F560, and out of the box everything works fine except for sound
and USB. I haven't had a lot of time to spend fooling with it, but I
imagine both of those can be made to work. The sound driver is the Yamaha
Legacy, which has kernel support (but I think the one in the sony's is
slightly different). The USB needs to have the IRQ/IOAddr information
passed to it when inserting it (I think .. when i try to insmod without, it
errors out and says it can't find the device, so that is my guess), but I
don't know what the proper arguments to pass are.

HI,
I am thinking about getting a Sony Vaio F540. Will
have a problem installing Man 7 on it?
I do plan to run in graphics mode (KDE)
Thanks

RE: [expert] Speaking of RPMDrake...

2000-09-11 Thread Chris Burkhart

I had an issue with RPMDrake installing RPMs from my windows partition.. I
downloaded the full cooker dir into my windows partition, then mounted this
partition without linux. When I would go to add that directory into
RPMDrake, it wouldn't give an error, but wouldn't give me any RPMs to
install. To get it to recognize the RPMs, I had to create a symbolic
link'ed dir off of my root that pointed to the mounted windows directory..

Subject: [expert] rpmdrake won't work.

Hi, all,

I met following problem when I tried to launch rpmdrake,
---
Can't locate Gtk.pm in @INC (@INC contains:

/usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.005 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl .) at
/usr/lib/libDrakX/my_gtk.pm line 19. BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at
/usr/lib/libDrakX/my_gtk.pm line 19. Compilation failed in require at
/usr/X11R6/bin/rpmdrake line 6. BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at

I have installed the latest Perl, but problem still exists.
Any idea to avoid this?

Thanks in advance!

Xuejun

[expert] USB-UHCI

2000-09-10 Thread Chris Burkhart

How would I go about passing the IRQ and memory address of the USB
controller when insmod'ing the usb-uhci module? It dosen't want to work
properly on my laptop without them it seems..
