Hi,

if i make a "mount -t nfs host1:/ext/pub /mnt" on my host2 (currently
SuSE 6.2)
i get the error "mount: host1:/ext/pub failed, reason given by server:
Permission denied"

host1 is a Linux-Mandrake 6.1 server. the /etc/exports on it looks like:

-the
/etc/exports--
/
/ext/pub(no_root_squash)
---

what is my problem ??
can anybody help me ??

Hi,

i want do enable a user to create other user accounts and set their
password.
But i don't want to give this user the root access !!

i assume i have to do that with sudo. But i can't find the appropriate
man-page and files in /etc
i have installed Power-Linux 6.5.

do i have to install a additional package ?

can someone help me to get this thing working ?

i have configured the soundcard on my notebook. It works fine !
But now it nerves me that every wrong keyboard input produces a DING
...when i press Backspace on a empty command-line DING

how can i turn of this DING on every little move without disabeling the
sound ?

Hi,

i have a linux-samba server installat and configured "enable plain
password.." this works fine if i connect
with my nt-workstation pc.

now i have created a win95-boot-disk with ndis-network-drivers (from
DriveImage Pro CD).

I can not login on the linux-box "wrong password" on other NT-Servers i
can !!

can someone give me a tip ?

i have also tried entcrypted passwords on the samba-server ...this also
doesn't work !

and i want to use WinNT/95/2000 or linux.

i have installed PowerLinux 6.5 (kernel 2.2.13) on my notebook.
if i activate the PCMCIA service on installation i get a general
protection
fault on startup.

where can i manually deactivate this PCMCIA service ?
have anyone have a tip for my problem ?

i had to create a new kernel 2.2.14 to get my 37GB IDE-HD to work.

i have installed Lotus/Domino-Server 5.0.2.c which is working with the
original kernel
from the PowerLinux 6.5 CD fine.

my new kernel (2.2.15) works fine to  ... no problems !

except the Domino-Server.  if i try to start the server
("/opt/lotus/bin/server") nothing happens
no error-message no /var/log/messages-message quite NOTHING

how to analyse a Problem if i have no errormessages
