Try a modprobe before you add it into the lilo. If your NIC a PnP? Is it
possible that the card has shifted its params to another set of IO IRQ when
it became a 2nd NIC?

If I am not mistaken, isapnp only does pnp detection. If you choose to
compile into the kernel, then you may need to pass some params to get the
kernel to detect (sometimes they auto detect, but I'm not too good with
RedHat clones). For example, to detect my second NIC card, I have to pass
extra info in the lilo boot params.

currently, what is the way your kernel boots up? in Mandrake, the config for

Re: [expert] Work Project

Regarding your dual network card problem, it is a well known issue for many
people (like me) who use Linux as a router. I assume your 2nd NIC has PnP
built in. What you can do is run this program called isapnp (from somewhere
in your harddisk, or look it up on the Internet if there isn't. It is a
common app) and it will tell you the ios and irqs of the cards you have.

[expert] Kernel upgrade

1999-08-19 Thread Ji-Haw, Foo

I have installed Mandrake with kernel 2.2.9. 9 is good, but the app. I want
to use asks for 10, so I am trying to install 2.2.11 (which is the latest).
However the download Mandrake sites do not come with 9 or 10. I have the
non-RPM .11 kernel. I have done the make dep; make clean; make bzImage. But
whenever I boot up Mandrake, it always says that it is using 2.2.9. How can
I make sure? Is there something missing in my compilation (perhaps something
I should do with lilo?)?
