What actually do you mead as no Luck? Did you make the changes in
lilo.conf and then run, as root, lilo- c and this did not work? Were you
not sucessful in making changes to th lilo.conf file?

Can you post your lilo.conf file for the list to view?

Hi again.

I identify the problem but don't know how to solve
it. The problem is on install stage the promise controller is detected as
hde but after installing is detected as hda and hda is via_ide on
installation, and lm8.0 is installed on hda (via_ide.) . After installing
linux can't boot because can't find root system. I put install cd#1 and try
rescue mode, I succesfully mounted the / partition on hda and try to change
lilo.conf (is aiming at hda instead of hde ) . No luck . Try modifying
/etc/fstab . No luck.

Any ideas?

[expert] Boot Loader

2002-02-16 Thread Jorge Giménez Mayorgas

Hi.

I have a new PC. An Athlon XP 1800+ over Asus
A7v266-e with the following configuration.

hda- 6,4 gb disk (fat32)
hdb- cdrom
hdc- 20,4 gb disk (fat32)
hdd- cd-rw
hde- 60 gb disk (w98 + w2k +
linux)

Well I boot with hde (Promise) and I have tried to
install lm8.0 two times. My problem is that i have w98 + w2k but lilo tries to
overwrite boot sector of w2k and of course I get a L when install is
finished. I read on other messages of this list something about a boot
diskette but I can't do it on install . Any ideas? I know about how to install
lilo if I have w2k . I have that How to but the problem is I can't boot linux.I
have even tried Lm8.0 on rescue mode but I don't know how to make a boot
disk.

Hi everyone.

My problem is that I have an AMD 1800+ XP over a
Asus A7V266-E with Promise ATA 100. WellI have installed w98 , w2k and
after that want to install LM 8.0 on a 60 gbhdd. I know I should
have installed w98, linux, make a linux boot disk and then install w2k but I
don't have to reinstall everything. The problem is on lilo , when lilo tries to
write on the MBR of the disk when I reboot I get L 02 02 02 02 and
naturally can't boot Mandrake.
How can I solve this?

Thanks in advance,

I have no error when doing a make modules with 2.4.10 , a bit strange thing
because modules vfat and fat are in place.Anyway I will follow your advice

I had this same problem on 2.4.11 and 2.4.12 and found that the kernel
compile of modules was bombing out before it had all the modules built, and
the ones it didn't get to weren't being installed. See if you have the
vfat.o module available for your newly built version. If not, then you may
have this same problem.

You can also look at the compile output when doing 'make modules'. If the
output shows errors at the end, this is likely your problem.

I went back to the 2.4.9 kernel and it built all modules just fine.

My problem is that when I'm trying to add or search

ldap_sasl_interactive_bind_s: No such

I have followed the example of this
url
http://www.linuxfocus.org/English/July2000/article159.shtml

What does it mean , I ' ve checked configuration

I'm using the latest version of openldap2 for
LM8.0

Another problem is that the WebMin LDAP Module give
me an error 500 with any browser I have tried.

Has anyone solved the last problem?

Thanks ,
