[expert] NFS Unmounting problem

2003-10-18 Thread Kaveh Gh

 Dear All,

Recently, I've installed mdk 9.0 on a system to act
as a server. I've selected samba-server and
samba-winbind, too. I've installed mdk for several
times and in those cases just I've selected general
options(not by selecting indivitual packets and
tools). for exapmle, by selecting Network server, LSB,
Development,... radio-boxs, not by clicking the
individual. Anyway, In indivitual election,
samba-server, by defalut, is selected but
samba-winbind not. The installaiotn is ok but the
problem is:

When I reboot or shut down my system, After killing
and ending all daemons and servers, I always receive
this error message:

Unmounting NFS file system: Can not MOUNTPROG RPC:
RPC: Program not registered.
 umount2: Device or resource busy...
 umount: /net: device is busy...

And system is going to be HANGED!!! By pressing ^C,
I've received this message:

There is no active interface or server in this run
level.. to kill

I've taken a look in Control Center, I've seen that
in Samba status field, and in import tab, there is an
entry:
 NFS/net{As mount point} pid:178

Anyway, I could not solve the problem. So, pleaser
help me.

 Regards,

Re: [expert] KDE start up is too slow!!

2003-10-06 Thread Kaveh Gh

 Dear All,

As I've had a problem in X start-up( it was too slow
), I've taken a look in /etc/hosts file. I have a NAT,
DHCP server act as a gateway to the outside and it has
not problem. but one of my stations in my private LAN
had prob. I've added the localhost.local-domain
localhost names to /etc/hosts file and reboot the PC.
The problem was solved! It's ok that the reason of
prob was some network misconfiguration. So, thanks for
your help.

Slow startup of the window manager (be it Gnome, KDE
 or something else) is
usually caused by a network misconfiguration such as
 a bad hosts file,
incorrect /etc/resolv.conf settings, or a bad route.
 If the system cannot
determine its hostname, for example, it may try for
 a while before timing
 out.

Do you notice constant disk activity until KDE is
 ready? In other words,
does the system appear to be waiting or does
 something always appear to be
 going on?

[expert] KDE start up is too slow!!

2003-10-04 Thread Kaveh Gh

 Dear Friends,

 I've installed mdk-9.0 on a 40Gb western-digital
(WDC-4000C) HDD several times and never seen any
problem with installation and boot-up of system or KDE
start-up. I think untill now, I've installed mandrake
9.0 on my system for about 20 times, and never had had
any problem. but at this time, I have a amazing
problem. KDE 3.0 start up is too slow, but before, it
was not!! I was looking for the reason(s). I did not
change any configuration of my system and did not
change the partition table of my HDD. I mean that the
total system is same as all those cases that I've had
before.

First of all, I though that it was because of lack of
swap space(linux swap partition). but why I had not
this problem before with the same size of swap space
that I have? anyway, I've increased the swap space,
but the problem is still remain!

Then I though that it may has a problem durring
installation( I always install mdk in expert mode) .I
repeated the installation several times durring two
last days, but the problem is still remain.

Now the configuration, installation is the same as
before but now KDE is starting up too slow. Please
help me to find out the reason.

Note : I tried to explain in detail so you can help
me.
