[expert] Graphics Drivers for chipset 845GE

2003-01-13 Thread Rivera, Oscar
Hi,
I recently bought a Shuttle system SB51G is a compact size desktop with Intel 845GE
chipset.
My idea was to use this system with Mandrake-Linux 9.00; However when I finish the
Installation the Xwindows system does not come up. I have try configuring Xwindows by
hand by I do not see the chipset listed.
Is this chipset supported 845GE?
Will this chipset be supported in 9.1?

Please let me know

Here are the Specs for the mother board.

http://us.shuttle.com/specs2.asp?pro_id=85

Argh! I just got the following error on trying to install Mandrake 8.1 -

 An error occurred
 no hdlists found

This comes up after all the packages are installed.

 CTRL-ALT-F3 brings up

warning: no hdlists found at /usr/bin/perl-install/pkgs.pm line 347

 Any ideas?

I hope this isn't happening to many other people.

Why not use Ghost or Drive image and then boot each one in single user
mode, config the network and your done.

Is there a howto someplace or something for how to set up Mandrake

do an automatic installation, only prompting say for IP address etc?
RedHat used to have something called a "kickstart" or something as I
recall, with a script you could use. Does Mandrake have this?

I need to install about 15 machines all identical, but with different
 IP addrs etc.

This may be a silly question, but why do you want to move it? "If it
 works, don't fix it."

As a "learning experience" (this is not yet my main pc)
and because I have had a few problems that could be related to it:

1) grub will not work on it. lilo does.
2) every so often, after I logout to the main graphic login screen (Mandrake
7.1) I lose the mouse which restores itself if I restart x.
3) I was told originally not to do it this way

Meanwhile, it would probably help if you gave us a more detailed view of
the drive in question. As root:

 fdisk -l /dev/hdb

Disk /dev/hdb: 240 heads, 63 sectors, 1090 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 15120 * 512 bytes
