[expert] mandrake on a gateway 1000

2002-05-04 Thread Rochester Payne

I love mandrake but I haven't been able to run it since the 7.0 series ..
the install goes fine .. when it reboots to starts the system it hangs at
the .. init started ...
I have a gateway 1000 .. amd athlon 1 ghz with 768 mb ram .. I have a ide
controller card that give me 4 more ides which I have 4 more ide drives
connected .. on my system board ide I have 1 ide drive , dvdrom , cdrw ..
and dvdram drive. what is very strange to me is that I can run all the
redhat versions including 7.2 .. I can run suse 8.0 .. peanuts 9.2 ...
slackware 8.0 .. what is different about the mandrake that causes my
computer to hang ... if I use another kernel (ie redhat) it will come all
the way up ... ofcourse I get some crazy messages but it comes up in
mandrake ..

how can I debug the startup to see it line by line so I can find out where
it is stopping ..
