[expert] Bad Blocks on Ext2 fs
Couple of days back I started hearing funny noises from my HD. Sometimes LM 8 stops and drops me to the prompt advising me run fsck manually. I am not sure if any precious data exists on the bad blocks. Hop do I mark the bad blocks so that it will not be used by the file system. I tried to boot from my LM 8 CD into rescue mode and ran fsck.ext2, now I am not sure what options to supply to mark/repair the bad blocks, Any advise Right now most of the time my system boots properly, but sometimes dosen't boot. Hi all, I build a AMD 850mhz system. ABit RAID Motherboard IBM 30 GB deskstar HD and 256 Mb memory. It's been working for the past 2 months flawlessly. Since yesterday the system reboots or hangs. I rebooted the system and had a look at the bios system monitor to monitor the temp and fan speed. I noticed when the CPU temp goes beyond 109 F the system reboots. I am not sure if this is because of a faulty CPU or the motherboard. On the mother board the chipset has a separate fan. I suspected the memory and swapped memory form another machine, still the same. Has anyone encountered this problem? What could be the problem the CPU or the MB. Thanks Sridhar

[expert] Building an AMD Duron System
Hi, I am planning to build a 750 Mhz system with AMD's Duron processor primarily for it's cost benefit. The Duron CPU seems to cost less and perform equally to an Intel CPU. But I prefer input from users who are using AMD chips. I have a couple of concerns regarding the AMD processor. Is an AMD processor equivalent to an intel chip, in terms of instruction set, etc... Are the power supply requirements so rigid as mentioned in the AMD website? Will any hardware on an Intel system suit an AMD system? ANy recommendations of a good motherboard for a Duron processor. Appreciate any feedback from people who have/built an AMD system TIA Cheers Sridhar Keep in touch with http://mandrakeforum.com: Subscribe the "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" mailing list.

I have a TEAC CDRW. I tried burning an audioi CD with xcdroast on a CDRW disk. The copy works fine on my computer cdrom drive, but when I try to play it thro' an audi system the CD is not recognized. Is there any parametrs to set while recording. Or should I use a plain CDR disk to copy the CD? Cheers Sridhar

[expert] BeroFtp Server
Hi, I am using BeroFTP Server. I tried to upload files using CuteFtp a windows client. When I try to resume my broken upload Cute Ftp comes up with a dialog with options Overwrite/Resume. When I choose resume the existing file size is reduced to 0 and the upload resumes from that point effectively loosing the first part of the uploaded file. My question, is this a problem with the FTP client or the config of BeroFTP. I had used BeroFTP before and it worked fine. I recently used CuteFTP 4.0 Client and the problem appeared. Cheers Sridhar
