[expert] Filesystem corrupted

2002-09-21 Thread Stefan Sten

Hi,

I recently installed Debian 3.0 on my system, on its own drive. Debian was
recognised as hda1 (master) where / is. And lilo at hda.

Now. having mandrake at hdb1 (slave) as /, I wanted to mount the
filesystem of mandrake as /mnt/mandrake so I could access som file
through Debian.

I did not think that much as I typed (it was late here at Sweden):

'mount -t vfat /dev/hdb1 /mnt/mandrake'

that didn´t work, of course, so I typed:

'mount -t ext2 /dev/hdb1 /mnt/mandrake'

when I remembered that the filesystem was not ext2, but instead ext3, so
I typed:

'mount -t ext3 /dev/hdb1 /mnt/mandrake'

To my suprise debian replies, telling me that ext3 support is not available.

Tired of error messages and shortage of time, I decided to replace the
drive with debian and setup my system as I had it before. Only the
Mandrake drive as hda1 (master).

When booting I got this error:

"Failed to check filesystem", "Try to correct [Y/N]", typed Y and got this:

"The filesystem size (according to superblock) is 732808 blocks, the
physical size of the drive is 100320 blocks. Either the superblock or the
partion table is likely to be corrupt!"

Now, is it possible that I corrupted the drive when trying to mount it through
Debian? I can´t find another explanation. Is there a way to fix this?

Would appreciate any help,

Edvard.

: Re: [expert] Still problomes...SSH or X [Rewrite]

2002-08-25 Thread Stefan Sten

Thanks for the help Vox,

I got it working right now, unfortunately running the insecure variant,
xhost + did the trick. But I will take a look at the page
about OpenSSH later this night.
