Re: [expert] Helium Setup hangs..

Hi!

so i think my quantum fireball must be on the side
of those "offenders".. :(
after seeing the hpt controller known and compiled
into kernel i tried to plug in the udma66 cable
after installation - it hangs when hpt controller
plugs into kernel..
well, have to wait till this is stable or buy a
new hd.. think i will wait.. ;)
thanks for your suggestions..

bye, Torben

2000-07-07 Thread Torben Tretau

Hi!

Thanks for the suggestion, tried it but still hangs..
Dunno, if I was wrong before with hanging on ide-scsi,
but now it hangs on SCSI detection..
When I ran setup in expert mode it hangs after the kernel
has set up ide-controller..

Anyone out there had similar probs with HPT 366?

[expert] Helium Setup hangs..

2000-07-05 Thread Torben Tretau

Hi!

I tried to install Helium with UDMA 66 and
it hangs on ide-scsi detection in setup..
Thought that the HPT366 on BP6 is a tested
setup from Mandrake-Developers as i have
seen here before.. Has anyone successfully
made a setup with HPT366 on Helium?
My Harddisk is a Quantum Fireball, so not
one of those WD which have problems that
I've read here..

Hi!

Anyone has successful installed UDMA 66 with 7.1
and HPT366 on his BP6?

My problem starts when installer makes ide-scsi
detection it hangs.. any workaround to disable
detecting? (export mode doesn`t work..)

Hi Jean-Michel!

Thanks for your hint. With naming those files whatever.php3
it worked..
So i have to add something to parse also html-files, sorry,
thought that this is the standard situation. But now i got it..

Hi!

I think the conf-files from Apache and PHP are
already configured from Mandrake, looked at
them and it looks like everything is fine..
Anyone got a hint? Or should i fetch new RPMs
from AdvancedExtranet?

yeah, that works.. tried this yesterday,
before that i just followed a hint on
mandrakeuser.org which says to change
the makefile and only make new modules..
perhaps this should be mentioned there..

hmm, thats all clear and no problem.. klilo? hmm, i like vi
/etc/lilo.conf.. ;)

i received unresolved symbols, because my module dir still
pointed to the old version no. can anyone give me a hint
where the module dir is being set?
i tried EXTRAVERSION in Makefile but didnt help..

[expert] Kernel naming

2000-02-12 Thread Torben Tretau

Hi!

Got a question after building my own kernel. MDK installed
a normal and a SMP Kernel for my BP6. There are two dirs
in /lib/modules something like /2.2.14-15mdk + /2.2.14-15mdksmp,
also after building my own kernel there are only those 2,
my startup screen shows 2.2.-14-15mdksmp from any system variable
i think. My question is where is this one set? I received some
problems after building and inserting a module into the kernel..
So i want to change this naming context and have only one module
directory.. Anyone can help me? ;)

Another problem is that i receive a lot of unresolved
symbols after booting my new kernel.. Ah, btw, MDK is 7.0..

Thanks in advance,

This looks like v4l-conf which xawtv runs isn't in your path
and so cant be executed..

Sounds good, so root can't get root on the server too. But what is the
best
way to mount some /export dirs from the server via NFS? Read NFS Howto
already
but gives no solution for me.. ;) You use automount? Are there Howtos
for this?
Haven't found a man page for this on my system. Is it an extra package
and what
is it called?

[expert] NFS / root access

2000-01-08 Thread Torben Tretau

Hi!

Connected my 2 linux boxes to build a small
network. Everythings works, besides that
i can't login as root via telnet or rlogin,
only normal user logins are working..
If I want to mount a NFS directory as root
i receive a Permission Denied, sounds like
the same problem.. But what is the solution? ;)
Don't want to setup a NIS for this little
Network, must I?

Thanks in advance, bye
