The way in presenting installable and removable rpms is different from b4.
Some packages like telnet(client) is included in pine rpm.
Looks like nslookup is going to be remove from next version of MDK, seems
like ppl are abusing it :P
However, MDK message recommend us to use host or dip as subs, which are
pretty handy too.

Re: [expert] Using iso image for 8.0

iso image is just a lump sum file for all those small files.
you need to select "create CD from iso image" for what ever CDR program you
got.

Re: [expert] 8.0: cannot boot into Linux after the install

2001-04-29 Thread tml tml

Seems like you are using an old BX chipset motherboard too. Wonder if it is
a Asus motherboard.

My P2B-S had a simliar symptom too. 7.2 worked fine, upgrading to 8.0 was
fine. But fully reinstall, tons of problems.
First 8.0 CD-Rom could not boot at all.
Second 8.0 Floppy could boot, but hang up after the first linux installation
page(the one with the blue loading bar).

Re: [expert] known issues with the quantum fireball plus LM 30 udma 66 drive and linux?

2001-04-29 Thread tml tml

I dont know if BE6 has the same problem or not.
For KT7A-RAID
PCI Slot 1, shares the same IRQ with APG, manuel recommend dont use it if
AGP Slot is used.
PCI Slot 5 has an issue too. So I left that slot alone too.

ATA 100 mode should has no sever problem with Linux.
Running Hot Rod Pro 100, with a single 30G ATA-100 harddisk, on BX chipset.

Dont know if mix mode on the same ATA-100 bus and on the same cable has an
issue or not.

[expert] IDE RAID

2001-04-27 Thread tml tml

Looking for some guidelines in how to set Mandrake 8 with IDE RAID

Hardware raid card or on board setting with Raid 0+1

Under partition, I got into trouble:P

The scheme is creating another intengible drive under another tag named MD?
And then add those drives to MD?
Is that all file system can be mount under Raid partition?
However, I see 2 Linux Raid File System under the dropdown list for
partition type.
Which 1 should I pick?

Isnt that I only need to set up the Raid 0 part under partition. The Raid 1
part, will be hardware automation mirrioring?

Thanks in advance for your reply.
