Hi folks.

I've been trying to compile different kernels into Mandrake 7.2, but have
never been successful., I was able to compile a new kernel on a redhat
box, but not a mandrake one. Since Mandrake is my primary choice for a
linux distribution, I'd like to stick with it.

Right now, I'm running the 2.2.17 kernel, I've got framebuffer support
with my nvidia TNT2 card, and I run terminal at 1024x768 (vga mode 791).
While compiling the kernel 2.4.3 (and following the instructions in the
README file to the letter) I believe that I checked off everything as I
should have.

But, after tryingto reboot into the new kernel, I first get an error
message about not being able to start the framebuffer, then it later dies
off during boot.

I've had absolutely no luck at all in recompiling a new kernel for this,
and owuld like some expret advice. I have RTFM, The readme files and the
documentation that came with the kernel were quite helpful, and I am
certain taht I wouldn't have made it this far without them, but I really
could use a hand here if possible

Thanks
