Folks,

Can someone help me with configuring my pc for dsl (which,as always,
worked dandy in the days of Windows98)?

I've got a Lynksys EtherFast card connected to an Efficient Networks Inc.
SpeedStream DSL modem. The tuplip.o driver for Linksys is installed (via
an RPM of updated drivers).

I've tried using Mandrake 7.2's configuration utility, but the driver
fails to show up on the driver list. I've then gone into the Linuxconfig
utility and found I could find and specify the tulip driver, only to get
lost in the maze of choices on other settings. I have basic stats from my
ISP, such as DNS numbers, gateways, subnet masks, and the like
(supposedly I'm to set the the ISP's IP address to "dynamic," a setting I
don't find in Mandrake). In addition, the ISP told me the NIC also has an
IP and gateway and gave me those numbers. Again, no indication in either
configuration utility as to where NIC's information goes.

So:

1. Is there a file I can alter that will allow tulip to show up in the
PPPOE configuration utility? And should that be enough to round out the
process when I try to use the utility again?
2. What the heck should I do with the NIC IP number and gateway?
3. Is there a file I can use to enter configuration information without
having to puzzle through the utilities?

Thanks for your patience!

Best regards,

Pete Spotts
