Re: [expert] DirecPC drivers

2000-04-25 Thread db

I've worked with Helius for several years, and was surprised to find that you
are right. I haven't checked with them, but they might be willing to share
their drivers if you ask them. If you email the company, ask that your note be
forwarded to Mr. Mossbarger, the president. That way you won't get any
runaround. If you do, email me and I'll ask around. (I actually have the CD in
a town not three hours away).
Hughes has always been very negative about writing drivers for anything but
WinXX; I've never understood. Even when Motorola came out with a PCI board for
direcpc, and now a USB external "satellite modem." Duh. What would it take a
decent programmer to port the driver to Mac or Linux? Might be a good project
for one of you hackers out there...

[expert] DirecPC drivers

2000-04-24 Thread Hawk82

I used to know that www.Helius.com used to make Linux drivers for download.
I was wondering if anyone knows where I can get some because I can't seem to
find the drivers for it on Helius' web site.

Hughes says they have no interest in making drivers for other OSs like Macs
or Windows 2000? or Linux.

I don't care because it is not a vital piece of hardware, but it would be
nice to have working.
