It turned out that I needed to modify /etc/devfs/conf.d/modem.conf to 
reflect the use of ttySLT0 instead of ttyS0.

[expert] Lucent WinModem Problems

OS: LM8.2

I installed the Lucent Modem driver from RPM.  But after a reboot, kppp 
is not able to contact the modem because /dev/modem keeps pointing back 
to /dev/ttyS0.

How can I keep /dev/modem pointing at /dev/tts/LT0 after each reboot? 
And how do I keep /dev/tts/LT0 from disappearing?
