The "xf86config" command will ask that, otherwise, insert your favorite editor,
vi, and "vi /etc/X11/XF86Config". Under that, there is an emulate 3-button
option somewhere in the mouse section.

I think you need the XKB extensions, try xf86config or editing the above file.

try mouseconfig or mousedrake for your mouse
what's wrong with your backspace key ? just doesn't work ?
hmm ... maybe it's disfunctional ? donno ...
