And what better way to tell someone you love them than to send them a
good reason to choose Linux. :)

Re: [expert] OT: CERT virus alert

2000-05-04 Thread ibi

I did a poll a few months ago and asked the list to reply whether or not
they wanted to see the CERT alerts? The overwhelming majority wanted
them posted, as an OT topic which I continue to do. I was particularly
interested in this post because it lists WuFTP and some server modules
as having some nasty vunerabilities.

I post CERT alerts for sys admins that must host Windows users, and no
other reason.

AS for this CERT warning I wish I had seen it sooner. My guru got hit
hard today because some idiot with that can't function without Outlook
Express just wanted to be loved.

For those that are put-off by the advisory, I'm sorry. My posts are
clearly marked OFF-Topic and CERT, and I will not be offended if you do
not read them.

Thanks for your time,

Pj

I get a chuckle out of all these. Most of the time running Linux, you
can collect them
and send them to "friends" you don't like.. :)

Don't really need to post those alerts here - 90+ % of viruses are written
for windows and don't affect linux at all. The Loveletter virus is one - it
depends on the Windows Scripting Host (otherwise known as the Windows
Security Hole).
