I have kde2.1 beta 2 installed on my clean new install of Mandrake 7.2.
EVERY time I login I find 1) that in the kmenu, my Control Center is
transfered into an unnamed directory - if I check my .kde/share/applnk
directory, it is called something like "p^%", and 2) it doesn't work - if I
start it as is, it is blank with no modules. This is the old problem that
has come up before. To fix it, after EVERY bootup and login, I have to
delete the wierd "p^%" directory and then copy all the contents of
/usr/share/applnk/ to my .kde/share/applnk/ directory and then run
kbuildsycoca. All this is only a temp fix since the next time I bootup and
login, I will have to do it all over again.

I am about to write a script that does this automatically for me upon each
login but having to do this really sucks. What is the problem here and what
is the REAL fix for it?
