RE: [expert] PCMCIA install broken...?
Here's what I did: (which, sadly, will not help you with an install) 1) Install Mandrake 6.1 - being sure to turn PCMCIA off at boot time as part of the set up 2) Download an install the latest PCMCIA source 3) Compile new kernel (or at least PCMCIA portion) from updated source tree FWIW - no one ever had any response to my PCMCIA issues Don > -Original Message- > From: Chris Herrnberger [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] > Sent: Thursday, November 11, 1999 10:15 PM > To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Subject: Re: [expert] PCMCIA install broken...? > > > Derek: > > Using the instructions on the site for P3015ct I was able to get SuSe > 6.0/6.1/6.2/ installed via FTP/PCMCIA. This should prompt you for the pcmcia.img diskette, from where I was able to do an NFS installation with no further problems. Sunsite has a 6.1 and a 6.1b directory, with the 6.1 being the most recent. I can only presume that the 6.1b is an early beta release of the real 6.1 distro. -- Phil Edwards Technical Specialist == Travellog Systems Phone +44 (0)1444 459016 The Priory, Haywards HeathFax +44 (0)1444 456655 West Sussex, RH16 3LB mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] United Kingdom http://www.travellog.co.uk ==
Re: [expert] PCMCIA install broken...?
Derek: Using the instructions on the site for P3015ct I was able to get SuSe 6.0/6.1/6.2/ installed via FTP/PCMCIA. Neither version of Mandrake 6.0/6.1 have been successful to date. Contacted the Mandrake developers at 6.0 and was told it would be fixed shortly but also have not seen a functional image on the Mandrake or Redhat/mirrors sites. [expert] PCMCIA install broken...?
Hello, I am suffering from Bug #178, with Mandrake 6.1. I get the message: /usr/bin/runinstall2: cannot create /modules/modules.cgz: read-only file system install exited abnormally [...etc, as documented in the bug system...] Has anyone solved this problem? I found the bug report through Google and I can't see how to find out the status of this bug. As in the bug report, I am trying a DHCP-based install with my PCMCIA network card. Appearantly, Mandrake 6.0 worked (I never tried it), and I have installed Redhat Linux 5.2 on this laptop successfully, so someone, somewhere, broke something, somehow. I have not tried Redhat Linux 6.0 or 6.1 on this machine. This is a Toshiba Portege 3015CT. I am a maintainer of one of the two Linux Laptop Homepage entries for this laptop, and I'd love to add Mandrake to my list of successful Linux installs. Thank You, Derek Simkowiak [EMAIL PROTECTED]
