From KDE you can usually just specify 'kprinter' as the spooler instead
of lpr. Click on the dropdown and there should be options for Print to
PDF or Postscript.
For the Samba printer you should only need to retrieve the spool file
since it's already in PS format (providing you're using the Postscript
driver on the Winders end).
