[expert] Re: [OT] Stupid question about Galeon and bookmarks

2003-01-18 Thread stefmit
Thank you for your kind attempt to help ... but have you ever actually tried
to open that window (i.e. the bookmarks one), in Galeon? There is no
square(s) icon on the right corner (it is not a regular window - please try
it, and you'll see what I mean - it is missing the functionality of normal
windows), and the X icon on the upper left corner, which usually allows a
normal window to be configured (resized included), has some of the options
grayed out. This window cannot be resized, either (I think that the missing
square(s) icon is indicative of it being unsizeable), and the only thing I
can do with it is to minimize it completely, close it, or reduce it to its
upper border (by double-clicking on the border itself).

I thought Galeon spawned out of Mozilla, and I would have expected similar
behavior, but in Mozilla the bookmarks window has a tiny little arrow at the
bottom, right where the screen ends, allowing scrolling past the last line,
and it is connected to the main Mozilla window, while in Galeon the
bookmarks one becomes an independent, but crippled kind of window.

Thanks again,
Stef

In KDE, if you hold down the ALT key and click and hold on the window,

the window to fit your screen. Sorry.

Right, and once you get the top menu bar where you can see it, click on the
square icon in the upper right corner (a couple of times), it will go back
and forth in size until one fits the screen.

RIGHT! Sorry, Rob ... but I am so happy it's not only me ... I was going nuts
over this one :( I had to revert to Mozilla for now, as bloated as it is ...
my bookmarks are very critical to me, and I use them so often ...

Still hope someone has an idea for this.

Thx again,
Stef

I believe the drop-down window is to what he is referring. I get the
same thing. It will not scroll beyond the bottom of the page. The only
way I can see my bookmarks beyond the bottom of the screen is to open up
 edit bookmarks.

My apologies - I thought you meant the main Galeon window - not
bookmarks. I use Galeon as my main browser here, but I've never even
opened a bookmark window - don't have a reason to. I just add pages to
  the drop-down bookmark menu...

  Sorry I couldn't help!
