There is Xbasic which is a compiler-cum-development environment with its
own graphic widgets and there is BASIC for X11 and probably a couple of
basics in /contribs. ML7.1 had a Basic language rpm on it. Search
Google for Basic for X11 and keep babelfish handy though I believe there
is some translation from the German available now.

Thank you. I considered rewriting the program for him in C++ but I decided
that it would be best if I didn't get involved.

Hi,
to run basic (dos) programs in Linux you need to install the dos emulator.
He's comes also with a basic interpreter (don't remember the distrib).
If your friends basic program is compiled then there is no pb to run it in the
emulator.
I tryed it e few mounths ago without any pb.

Besides the other BASIC interpreters that someone else mentioned, you
might also try running the actual GWBASIC under DOSEMU with DOS or
FreeDOS.

[expert] Running GWBASIC programs

2002-04-04 Thread Phil

Hello All,

A friend has a GWBASIC program that he wants to run under Linux. I remember
reading about a BASIC interpreter for Linux however a quick search didn't
reveal anything useful.

Can anyone help?
