I use the Mandrake rpm (xntp3-5.93-4mdk) and it works great. This is *the* way to synchronize mulitple servers to an authoritative timesource. - -- Jim Holthaus (pronunciation: HOLT house) [EMAIL PROTECTED] PGP Public Key at http://www.holthaus.com/jim/pgpkey.html Learn about PGP at http://www.holthaus.com/jim/pgp.html -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- Version: PGP 6.5.1 iQA/AwUBOdTzyH3IcJJ+eC/CEQJEDwCfbQVpQoGydEUR9CIODlfwMaVgAiMAn0+s 7eHttY+OVgvSQ15MmTAhwwAx =6FrS -END PGP SIGNATURE- Keep in touch with http://mandrakeforum.com: Subscribe the "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" mailing list.

Of the soapbox, I personally use xntpd for synching the main local timeserver with two different ntp servers, and then use timed to keep the local network in synch, xntpd was too finicky for my patience on the local level. xntpd was really simple to set up for just the server box, and timed can be setup to be a master local server. The adjustments for timed are accurate enough for most timestamp sensitive stuff. m -- Matthew Micene Systems Development Manager Express Search Inc. www.ExpressSearch.com A host is a host from coast to coast, and no one will talk to a host too close Unless the host that isn't close is busy, hung or dead Keep in touch with http://mandrakeforum.com: Subscribe the "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" mailing list.

use xntpd It's included with the standard Mandrake distro. At 11:37 AM 9/29/00 -0400, you wrote: >Hi guys, > >We have lots of 7.0 and 7.1 workstations and a Solaris RAID.. We need synchro coz of CVS. You can use rtime to do this, using the -s option to actually set the value. For example, rtime -s time.missouri.edu will set your clock to the timeserver called time.missouri.edu (I use this one myself). You could either set the RAID to get it's time from this, and the rest from the RAID, or get all of the machines to get their time the same way. The former reduces Internet traffic. Regards, Ozz. [expert] Time and Date synchronization..
Hi guys, We have lots of 7.0 and 7.1 workstations and a Solaris RAID.. We need to synchronize date and time on all the machines to the RAID.. or all the machines including the RAID to some standard time over the internet. Whats the best way to go about it? We need synchro coz of CVS. -sarang Keep in touch with http://mandrakeforum.com: Subscribe the "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" mailing list.
