If you are using kde open Kde Control Center and nav to the listing File Browsing/File Assoc/Text heading/html. Using the Add option add opera (be sure to use lowercase o) and then move it to the top of the list. If you are using Gnome open the Gnome Control Center Document Handlers/Url handler. In the listing for default handler remove Moz and enter opera (lowercase 0). All shortcuts and links will now be opened by Opera. As far as Java working in konqueror as long as you have a Java pkg installed, JRE or JDK, and you have enabled java in Preferences there should not be a problem unless the site does not use the standard format. If someone here would point me to a URL that they are having problems with, I'll have a look. I run Mandrake 7.2 and KDE 2.1 on a Compaq M700 and I use the IBM JDK/JRE with Konqueror. I have not noticed any problems with Java or Javascript when surfing the web. This email brought to you by PMMail/2 and OS/2 Warp 4. Re: [expert] Use Java in Konqueror problem
I have this problem also, so I am testing opera 5.0, that now has finally released the stable package. But when I am looking e-mails with kmail, if there are in a message a url, automatically it is open with konqueror and, you know, if there are some about java the dissater! appears. I friend of mine said that the only problem for him to migrate from windows 2000 to linux was java support in any navigator, because hi works frequently with pages that use java! Anyone in this list know clues to install and activate java for konqueror. RE: [expert] Use Java in Konqueror problem
Same here. I cannot still understand how Mandrake ( and RedHat ) for that matter, cannot bundle a working universal JRE in thier distro's. I've tried to get Java working NUMEROUS times in both MDK and RH, with no avail.. ( are the MDK listeners here?? ) Install JAVA upon install. I know Konq. see's my Java, my TV station I work at insists in having this cheezy TV screen java app loading on the homepage. If I uncheck Java, nothing.. If I check load java I get a grey box "loading java app" and thats it.. Hell, even IBM made Java work with OS/2.. Why can't Mandrake? *soapbox off now.* -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Steve Kieu Sent: Saturday, June 23, 2001 11:45 PM To: maillist Subject: [expert] Use Java in Konqueror problem Hi, I can not make java work in konqueror, when I load an applet it seems that it displayed outside the konqueror window and dissappeared quickly.
