The program's called CheckInstall. Due to some
really embarassing mistakes I made tweaking with
my browser and email client, I lost the URL
(which I've stored in my browser's bookmarks) and
the message that contained the advice of
trying it out (and hence the name and address of
the sender, but whoever  you are, thanks again,
kind soul).

I'm not sure whether I heard of it on this list, but there is a program that 
takes the part of the 'make install' command, and puts the files to be 
installed in the RPM database (this would help to ease removing them later, 
etc.).

Anyone know what the name of this program is?
