I use konsole and colors are settable by menu.
My xterm appears colored as KDE because I put a "v" in a box (traslating from
italian) "apply KDE colors  prop. at non KDE apps" in the control center.

OK Glyn!

How about from the command line:

xterm -n "Your Name Here" -bg black -fg lightblue 

which is not a GUI way of pulling one up, but if your hot on using an xterm...

You could use konsole instead. ;)

Or better yet, download "powershell"  (search Freshmeat). It's a very smart
program that lets you have multiple terms, each accessed by a tab. I *love*
this program.
