If I was in an office, I might want my screen blanking on it's own. Here at home on my network, if I'm not using my monitors, I turn them off. I don't really like the computer deciding when I should have a display. [expert] dpms?
Hello all, I've been watching some dvd's this morning and ogle looks great! Only problem that I had sll morning was that the monitor keeps shutting off every 15-20 minutes I guess. I tried commenting out the option dpms "on" line in my XF86Config-4 file, and still get the same thing. Where can I disable this so my monitor doesn't go off on me - I don't use screen saver and I don't like power managment!! [expert] DPMS Settings
Hi, I have just installed 7.1 on an IBM Thinkpad i Series. I will disable my DPMS as I am currently using my laptop as a home computer and leave it on for long periods. Although everytime I log out, reboot or shutdown, it 'enables' the DPMS again, as though it is not saving the 'disable' setting once I log out. Does someone know how to fix this problem? Such, does someone know where the DPMS file is located, and how I could manually edit it to disable the settings. Thankyou, Simon Robertson
[expert] DPMS check
It is not really a big problem but I wonder if there is a way to disable the DPMS check when starting KDE. I am using X-Win32 servers on Win98 to acccess linux servers but every time I start the X session I get the message box stating that my X-server does not support DPMS. I have tried to set it in the KDE control panel but I cannot uncheck the DPMS checkbox. thnx for any idea p.f. +---+ RNDr. Peter FREIMANN, ICQ# 1181033 tel: 0602-464-800, 0331-362375 ESNET s.r.o.(Internet provider) http://www.esnet.cz nam. [expert] DPMS with the login window
I'd like to get my screen to shut off after a few minutes when the login window is on. I'm starting in runlevel 5 and I use KFM. I tried putting a xset dpms 400 400 400 in /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc and that didn't do anything. Which script should I put it in? Thanks
