I haven't had problems with jdk1.2.2 (Mandrake 7.0 and 7.1) EXCEPT that I must set LC_ALL to en instead of my default value (es).

i actually had similiar problems and i think it says on their website that it (technically) only works with redhat, caldera, and slackware. i bought redhat and got it running fine... Well, I actually installed Sun's JDK 1.3 beta last night. No problem at all. Though I had problem installing JBuilder. Just follow the instruction. No rocket science. Download it and rpm it.
