Top will tell you what the process is that is consuming more and more memory and CPU kill that process if you can to restore things to normal without a reboot. Again posting top will help us in finding out what is causing your problem. James hi james, have you received my email ? is the description useful or do you need the original output from top ? do you know, how I can stop the eating of memory through net_monitor.rea or is there a new version available, which doesn't have this bug ? hope you can find out some possibilities for help bye hans Want to buy your Pack or Services from MandrakeSoft? Again posting top will help us in finding out what is causing your problem. James hi james, have now done a look for about 10 minutes on the output of top. have running netmonitor.rea and it is one of the interested program here ! it grows up in time of 10 minutes from starting at 12252 to 13432 in a time of 20 minutes. And the percentage use of memory grows up from 9.6 % to 10.5 % so it seems, that this program has any lack of memory. after starting, the connection is coming up, and I cut the connection after one minute, so I had the same values for each test. Hold on the connection doesn't change any behavior : the size grows up at the same time. Exactly this behavior slows down the system afte a few hours. The memory size changes from startuptime of about 19800 KB to 0 after 5 or 6 hours or so. Without this program the system does NOT have any problem with memorylacks. hope, this is a useful startpoint to get rid of this weird problem. Hope - anybody can help. the version of control-center is : control-center-1.4.0.1-2mdk net_monitor seems to be a part of control-center, because n rpm -q net_monitor fails. maybe, there is an updated control-center without this bug ? thanks for helping and give some hints bye hans Want to buy your Pack or Services from MandrakeSoft? [expert] memory problems with pptp-connection
hi list, have a mdk8.0-box and a pptp-connection. my box is running over 24 hours a day. everytime I'm running Mandrake-Control-Center and there the connection for internet over pptp, the memory becomes slower and slower, equally, if the connection is on or off. After a few hours every action with the mouse takes minutes - in the range of 1 to 240. That is really crazy. So I'm hoping, now, there is anyone on this list, who could giove me a hint or as experiences with such a behavior. Have 128 MB RAM, so it should be enough for running linux with only X, mailbox, mozilla and sometimes kwrite - nothing else. Looking in the memory-management, the memory is ALWAYS USED AT ABOUT 99 % - FROM STARTING THE X-SESSION to the end. It is really very very horrible to work with such a big behavior. Thanks for helping and spend some ideas bye hans Want to buy your Pack or Services from MandrakeSoft? Go to http://www.mandrakestore.com
