Thoughts. Greg Sure. Each kernel has its own modules compiled and in dir:/lib/modules/2.4.8 or whatever version. for eg. I have 3 dirs under /lib/modules for 3 different kernels -- Chad Young Registered Linux User #195191 @ http://counter.li.org Want to buy your Pack or Services from MandrakeSoft? RE: [expert] nvidia and new kernel
Yes you'll need to recompile. The easiest thing to do is grab the Mandrake SRC.RPM's for the NVIDIA drivers and rebuild. BTW: They are included in the DVD release. -JMS |-Original Message- |From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] |[mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] On Behalf Of Greg Sarsons |Sent: Thursday, November 22, 2001 12:04 PM |To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] |Subject: [expert] nvidia and new kernel | | |I need to use a newer kernel so that my webcam is supported |and I just thought about my video driver for my nvida card. | |I compiled the driver for 2.4.8. [expert] nvidia and new kernel
I need to use a newer kernel so that my webcam is supported and I just thought about my video driver for my nvida card. I compiled the driver for 2.4.8. Now if I install 2.4.13-x I will need to install a driver. The driver isn't backward compatible is it? I mean if I compile the driver to run with 2.4.13 will I be able to switch back to 2.4.8?
