I know it won't do EVERYTHING you asked here, but you MIGHT
look at Tom's Root/Boot disk (www.toms.net/rb is the URL, I

Hi,
if you are still interested in what to include in your next distirbution.

I would like a bootable rescue CD. something that would boot up a system
that auto detects all my hardware and loads drivers.

It should ask which filesystems to try to load and have support for raid.

It should have tons of trouble-shooting tools and utilities, tons of
documentaion.

It should detect and repair corrput lilo/MBRs automatically.

At the very least your install CD could give you the option not to install
but instead load a minimal system so you can work on your broken system.

it should also by it's mere presence keep me from screwing up my lilo such
that I can't boot. (man I could have used that feature an hour ago ;-0 )
